Whether ovarian cysts cause pain depends on the nature of the cyst. Physiological cysts are usually painless, while pathological cysts may cause lower abdominal pain or acute abdominal pain. Ovarian cysts may be related to endocrine disorders, inflammatory stimulation and other factors. It is recommended to clarify the nature through ultrasound examination.
Most ovarian cysts are physiological cysts, such as corpus luteum cysts or follicular cysts. These cysts are usually less than 5 cm in diameter and can disappear on their own with the menstrual cycle. Physiological cysts generally do not cause obvious pain. Some women may only experience slight soreness and distension in the lower abdomen during ovulation. This discomfort usually resolves within 1-2 days. Maintaining a regular daily schedule and avoiding overexertion can help reduce the occurrence of physiological cysts.
Severe pain will occur when the cyst is torsion, rupture or infection, which is common in pathological cysts such as teratomas and endometriomas. When the cyst is torsion, sudden stabbing abdominal pain will occur, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. ; Rupture of the cyst can cause persistent abdominal pain and a feeling of swelling in the anus ; Co-infection can cause fever and lower abdominal tenderness. The diameter of pathological cysts often exceeds 5 cm, and the nature needs to be identified through tumor marker detection combined with imaging examinations, and laparoscopic surgical resection is required if necessary.
It is recommended that women of childbearing age undergo gynecological ultrasound examinations every year. If they experience persistent lower abdominal pain, menstrual disorders or abnormal vaginal bleeding, they should seek medical advice promptly. Avoid abdominal pressure movements on a daily basis. When abdominal pain occurs, you should immediately stop activities and lie on your side with your knees bent. Record the pain characteristics and duration for the doctor's reference. In the diet, reduce the intake of soy products, royal jelly and other foods that may affect hormone levels, and keep the vulva clean to reduce the risk of pelvic infection.
