Male erection hardness can be comprehensively judged through five methods: self-observation, international standard scale assessment, nighttime erection monitoring, partner feedback and medical testing.

    1. Visual and tactile observation:

The erection hardness is divided into four levels: level one is like tofu and is completely soft; level two is like a peeled banana that is partially swollen but cannot be inserted; level three is close to the hardness of a peeled banana and can be used for sex but is easy to bend; level four is like a cucumber and is completely hard. You can feel the elasticity by pressing the body of the penis with your fingers, or observe that the erection angle of Level 4 is usually at an angle of more than 90 degrees with the abdomen.

    2. International scale assessment:

The International Index of Erectile Function Questionnaire IIEF-5 is used for quantitative scoring, including five dimensions such as confidence in maintaining erection and insertion success rate. A total score of 21-25 is considered normal, a score of 12-20 indicates mild disorder, a score of 8-11 indicates moderate disorder, and a score below 7 indicates severe erectile dysfunction.

    3. Nighttime erection monitoring:

Healthy men will have 3-5 physiological nocturnal erections every night. Use a stamp test. Wrap a stamp around the base of the penis before going to bed and check for breakage in the morning or use a special RigiScan monitor to rule out abnormal hardness caused by psychological factors. If the stamp does not break for 3 consecutive days, there may be an organic problem.

    4. Partner collaborative verification:

During sexual intercourse, the partner's intuitive feedback on the difficulty and duration of penetration has important reference value. Level 4 hardness can easily break through vaginal resistance, level 3 requires auxiliary manual guidance, and level 2 or below is often difficult to complete insertion. Note that the evaluation needs to be done in a relaxed state for both parties.

    5. Medical testing methods:

Penile blood flow Doppler ultrasound can quantify the peak systolic flow velocity of the arteries PSV>35cm/s, which is considered normal, and cavernosal angiography can detect venous leakage. Blood tests include testosterone, blood sugar, blood lipids and other indicators, and neuroelectrophysiological tests can assess conduction function. These examinations need to be completed in the men's department of a regular hospital.

Daily Kegel exercises can be used to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Three sets of 15 contractions per day can improve blood flow control. Pay attention to dietary supplements such as zinc, oysters, nuts, arginine, deep-sea fish, beans and other nutrients, and avoid high-fat diet and prolonged sitting. Smoking will significantly reduce the blood flow rate to the penis, so it is recommended to quit smoking gradually. Regular work and rest should be maintained during the test to avoid psychological stress caused by continuous tests. A single abnormality must be combined with the results of multiple assessments. If the hardness continues to be below level 2 or accompanied by the disappearance of morning erection, it is recommended to seek medical attention as soon as possible to investigate potential causes such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
