To be honest, I have been doing science related to intestinal health for three years, and I have been through many pitfalls of intestinal cleansing products. I can clearly say that there is no "one-step" magic formula for detoxification and intestinal cleansing. The most reliable method is the one that is most easily ignored by everyone - following the rhythm of the intestinal tract, eating well and defecating regularly, which is more effective than sky-high-priced enzymes and intestinal cleansing teas.

A while ago, my cousin was still complaining to me that in order to clean up what the merchant said was "poop", she spent thousands to buy an imported bowel cleansing package recommended by an Internet celebrity. After drinking it for half a month, she lost 3 pounds. As a result, her face turned sallow and she kept having intestinal spasms. I went to the hospital for a colonoscopy and found that I had a slight colon. For intestinal melanosis, the doctor said that the intestinal cleansing products she drank were added with anthraquinone-based stimulant laxatives. Drinking these products indeed caused rapid bowel movements. The essence was "forced diarrhea" and was not a detoxification at all. Long-term consumption would damage the peristaltic nerves in the intestines, which would turn into intractable constipation.

Of course, some people say that fasting and cleansing the intestines is really useful. I have a friend who works out and fasts one day a week. He said that he only drinks warm water and eats a small amount of green leafy vegetables on that day, and his intestines feel much relaxed. I have checked relevant research and found that a short-term low-load diet can indeed give the intestinal flora room to adjust. There is a small range of clinical data supporting that light fasting can improve constipation, but most gastroenterologists do not recommend that ordinary people blindly follow the trend, especially those who have gastritis, hypoglycemia, or have irregular diets. Fasting will disrupt the peristaltic rhythm of the intestines, making constipation more likely to occur later.

I also had severe constipation when I was working on a project two years ago. I didn’t have a bowel movement for up to 5 days. I tried taking imported probiotics and drinking aged honey water, but it didn’t work. Later, I listened to the doctor’s advice and didn’t use any bowel cleansing products. I just grabbed a handful of mixed beans and mixed them with white rice when cooking every day, and ate a peeled apple or something as a snack in the afternoon. Five or six prunes without additives. After dinner, instead of slumping down on the sofa to check my phone immediately, I go downstairs and walk around the neighborhood for 20 minutes. When I have nothing to do, I rub my hands to warm them and rub my stomach clockwise for 5 minutes. Within a week, I basically have a bowel movement about 10 minutes after getting up every morning. My stomach is no longer bloated, and I feel much more relaxed.

By the way, the "more than ten pounds of feces" that businesses talk about every day is really IQ tax talk. There is no concept of "fee" in medicine. It takes 1-3 days for food residues to enter the intestines and be excreted as feces. If you want to have regular bowel movements and no obvious defecation difficulties, there is no need for additional "colon cleansing". Those products that claim to be able to eliminate "oily stools" and "black stools" are either added with laxatives or have dyeing ingredients in the products themselves, and have nothing to do with "detoxification".

If you really don’t have a bowel movement for several days and suffer from abdominal bloating, don’t look for folk remedies on your own. Go to the gastroenterology department of the hospital for a consultation. The osmotic laxatives prescribed by the doctor are safer than any Internet celebrity products and will not cause dependence. Our intestines have their own cleaning mechanism. Don’t mess with it, it is better than any “detoxification”.
