At present, there is no nationally organized special professional qualification examination for postpartum resuscitators. There are two main channels for assessments that are highly recognized in the market. One is the maternal and infant care (postpartum rehabilitation direction) level assessment organized by a third-party professional skills rating evaluation agency registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The other is the postpartum rehabilitation-related special ability assessment conducted by formal medical industry associations such as the China Maternal and Child Health Association.

A while ago, I consulted with my cousin who used to be a confinement nanny about taking this certificate, and I really learned a lot about it. She was almost deceived by a small agency in the circle of friends that "guaranteed it within seven days and issued the certificate nationally recognized". She paid 2,980 yuan and said that she could directly send the certificate without taking a test. Fortunately, she was cautious and went to the Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security to ask. They said that this so-called "qualification certificate" is not officially recognized at all, and she cannot even receive skills subsidies. Later, she chose a third-party evaluation agency announced on the official website of our local Social Affairs Bureau. She first took more than 20 days of practical classes, passed both theory and practical exams, and obtained the intermediate maternal and infant care (postpartum rehabilitation) skill level certificate. Now she has joined a chain maternity and health care store near her home. Last month, she received a skill improvement subsidy of 1,500 yuan based on this certificate, which is quite cost-effective.

If you plan to work in the obstetrics and health care department of the medical system, such as working in a public maternal and child postpartum rehabilitation center, many units will even accept the special competency certificate issued by the China Maternal and Child Health Association. This assessment requirement is more stringent, and you must first complete the prescribed online theory + offline clinical practice courses. During the assessment, there will be judges with medical and nursing backgrounds watching the operations, such as pelvic floor muscle assessment, manual lactation, and postpartum rectus abdominis repair. These details cannot be passed even if they are wrong, and the gold content is indeed higher.

Of course, there are different opinions. I know an obstetrics and health practitioner, Sister Li, who runs a studio in an old community, but she did not take these certificates. She worked in an obstetrics and healthcare institution in Shenzhen for seven or eight years in the early years. Her skills are so good that she cannot do business solely through referrals from old customers. She always says, "The certificate is for others to see, and the hard work you do is yours." This is true, but if you have no old customer base and plan to find a job in a formal institution, having a highly recognized certificate is indeed a useful stepping stone. If you really plan to take the exam, first go to the official website of the local Social Security Bureau to check the list of registered third-party institutions, or find the official registration channel of the industry association. Don’t believe in the gimmick that you can get the certificate without taking an exam. It is a trivial matter to waste money. When the time comes to find a job, it will be delayed if others don’t recognize it.
