If you really want to honestly say which one is better, there is no answer. There is no distinction between the two. Which one you choose depends entirely on your physical condition, practice needs and daily scenarios. If you insist on winning or losing, you will end up with the inferior one. To put it bluntly, this is like asking which one is better, coffee or tea. Some people love the refreshing feeling of coffee, while others love the warm feeling of tea. There is no standard answer.
A while ago, I have a little sister who has been sitting in an office for a long time. She started to practice flow yoga following the trend of Internet celebrities. Every time she danced along with the video, her waist was so stiff that she could not straighten up. Later, her mother dragged her to the Tai Chi team in the community to join in the fun for two months. When I saw her last week, she actually said that her back pain was much better, and she didn’t have any problems after standing around for an afternoon at the exhibition. Do you think Tai Chi is better than yoga? No, that's not the case. Another golfer of mine has acromion impingement. When he first learned Tai Chi from his uncle, he couldn't find the strength to sink his shoulders. The more he practiced, the more painful his shoulders became. Later, he found a yoga teacher who understands sports rehabilitation for two months. Now he no longer has any pain when swinging the racket.
In fact, if you understand the core of the two, you will know that the essence of the two sports is the same. They both pay attention to breathing and walking in conjunction with the movements. While training the body, it also trains the mind. However, the origin and movement logic are different, and the suitable scenes are naturally far different. If you are so busy that you don’t touch the floor every day, and you want to take some spare time in the office to relax your shoulders and stretch your waist, then a single yoga pose will definitely be more convenient. You can do cat-cow pose by moving a chair at your workstation. You can’t do Tai Chi in the cubicle. Colleagues will ask you if you have been practicing immortality recently. But if you have old joint injuries, are older, or just like a slow pace, the uniform arc movements of Tai Chi will put much less pressure on your joints, and you won’t be burdened with muscle soreness after practicing. You can also socialize while practicing with neighbors in the community.
Nowadays, there are always people on the Internet who criticize and criticize, either saying that yoga is a foreign thing and stretching is easy to injure, and Tai Chi is the treasure of the ancestors, or that Tai Chi is too slow and grinding, while yoga has quick results. In fact, most of those who say this have not found the right reliable entry path, nor have they tried the practice intensity that is really suitable for them. I practice both now. When I wake up in the morning and feel energetic, I spread out on a mat and practice Hatha Yoga for 20 minutes. In the evening, when I’m too tired after get off work and don’t want to move, I stand on the balcony and do half a set of 24 Tai Chi to relax my mind. It’s much more comfortable to work together than to do just one.
If you really want to decide which one to choose, you might as well try them all for ten days and a half. The feeling of your body cannot deceive anyone. The one that stretches your whole body after practicing and can stick to it for a long time is the best for you. You can’t fight over it~
