Severe cervical erosion generally does not affect pregnancy, but if combined with infection or other pathological changes, it may reduce the probability of pregnancy. Cervical erosion is usually a physiological phenomenon caused by the outward migration of cervical columnar epithelium, and is not a true tissue ulceration.

In most cases, cervical erosion is a normal physiological change, which is more common in women of childbearing age and is related to increased estrogen levels. Only the area covered by columnar epithelium on the cervical surface increases, and the appearance is red and granular, but the cervical function is intact, and mucus secretion and sperm passage are not hindered. It may be accompanied by a small amount of contact bleeding or increased secretions on a daily basis, but no special treatment is required when there is no inflammation.

In a small number of cases combined with cervicitis, mycoplasma or chlamydia infection, inflammatory secretions may change the properties of cervical mucus and hinder sperm penetration. Persistent infection may also lead to fallopian tube adhesions or endometrial inflammation, which indirectly affects the implantation of a fertilized egg. Some patients may have symptoms such as bleeding after intercourse, purulent leucorrhea, or lower abdominal pain. Colposcopy and HPV testing are required to rule out cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and other lesions.

It is recommended to undergo a gynecological examination and cervical cancer screening before planning a pregnancy. If there is an infection, you can use Baofukang suppositories, recombinant human interferon α2b vaginal effervescent tablets and other drugs to control inflammation as directed by your doctor. Avoid excessive vaginal washing on a daily basis, pay attention to sexual intercourse hygiene, and choose cotton breathable underwear. A regular schedule and a balanced diet can help maintain immunity and reduce the risk of recurring infections.
